THE FRIENDS OF ST NICHOLAS CHURCH

Since the mid 1980s the Friends have given important support for the church’s upkeep. They exist to help with the repair, maintenance, preservation and renovation of the building, its contents and the churchyard.

Funds raised by the Friends made a major contribution to the recent restoration of the monument to Sir Thomas Chaloner. They also paid for cleaning the baptistery, re-emblazoning its monuments and restoring the Queen Anne hatchment.

Now there are new challenges

A major project that the Friends proposes to support is the restoration and refurbishment of the north porch. This will return the principal entrance to the church to its original appearance, and will make access to the church more welcoming and inviting. Funds will also be needed to support the Heritage Lottery Fund grant recently won to carry out the preliminary work needed for restoration of the historic churchyard where monuments cry out for conservation to preserve Chiswick’s history for future generations.

St Nicholas Church needs its Friends to continue their support for this parish church.

Will you help by becoming one of them?

Whether you live in Chiswick or further afield, whether you attend the church or value it for its architectural and historical interest, your membership of the Friends will help to preserve this beautiful and important building its records and its surroundings.
